Field Assistants are required to join a team investigating the modified
management of agricultural grassland to promote invertebrates and bird
populations in pastoral landscapes. The project is in collaboration with
RSPB and ADAS - funded by DEFRA.

Field assistants will be required to work in grassland fields in South
Devon. Working in a team, a range of sampling methods will be used e.g.
suction and sweep net sampling for invertebrates. Their will also be a
substantial amount of lab work based in Egham. Applicants should have an
interest in field ecology, be enthusiastic, and have a willingness to
work outside in grassland, in all weathers. Accommodation, food and
transport are provided whilst away on field work (only).

The expected periods of field / lab work are:

Field work (Devon): circa 4 weeks late April to end of May 2009, in
Devon.
Lab work (Egham): circa 4 weeks in the lab June 2009, in Egham.
Field work (Devon): circa 5 weeks - July to mid August 2009.
Lab work (Egham): circa 7 weeks in the lab August to end of September
2009.
