It is open a candidature for a student scientific research grant within the project "Sustainable management of harvested waterfowl in Portugal", funded by the Area 5d of Fundo Florestal Permanente (Project nº2006.09.001199. 7). The grant is for the realization of field work (waterfowl counting, capture and marking), and data treatment.

Conditions required:

Degree in Forestry or similar areas of Engineering or Biology;

Is necessary car driving licence, personal car, physical robustness for field work realisation, availability for working during the weekends.

Preference conditions are fluency in English language, experience with bird capture and on the use of databases and statistical software analysis (including those of capture/recapture/ recovery data), as also the intention of doing a Master or PhD thesis within the project aims.

Grant period: starting in 01 June of 2009, for 6 months. Grant can be extended until a maximum of 10 additional months (depended on project extending authorisation) .

Grant value: 745EUR monthly.
The candidate selection criteria are:
- project needs covered by the curriculum vitae;
- motivation and autonomy.
Candidatures should include the following documents:
- application letter directed to the project leader (David Rodrigues);
- signed detailed curriculum vitae;
- copies of degrees certificates.
Candidatures are accepted until 17 April 2009
