Postdoctoral fellowship position in tree species range modelling at CEFE-CNRS Montpellier, France ( http://www.cefe.cnrs.fr)

A two-year postdoctoral position will be available July 1st, 2006 at CEFE-CNRS Montpellier, France to work on the modelling of European temperate trees distribution. The candidate will have to develop the process-based species distribution model Phenofit (Chuine & Beaubien 2001) for major temperate forest tree species. The candidate will also be involved in the coordination of the National Network of phenology observation (GDR SIP-GECC
http://medias.dsi.cnrs.fr/pheno/). The candidate will work in collaboration with the LECA (UJF Grenoble), the LSCE (CNSR-CEA Saclay) and EEF (INRA Nancy) research units, for models
comparison and implementation of DGVM with phenology.

The candidate should have a strong experience in biological systems modelling and should master a programming language (C++, Delphi preferentially). A practice of climate scenarios and climate models is
desired. Some background in ecology and biogeography is desirable.
