Internship - REDDnet: Building equity in forest climate policy through knowledge sharing and analysis?
The Climate Change, Environment and Forests Programme (CCEF) at the Overseas Development Institute (ODI) is looking to recruit an intern for a minimum 3 month placement to help establish the REDD-net programme. The aim of the programme is to champion the interests of the global south within the ?Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation? (REDD) debate. REDD-net aims to be multi-scalar by providing and exchanging information and analysis at the regional/national levels as well as the global level. Over the last few years ODI has built up a comprehensive body of work that analyses the relationships between REDD (and broader mitigation strategies) and poverty at international, national and local levels. The internship will aim to build on some of the themes in this research and policy engagement work as well as providing practical assistance with the setting up the network.
The position is unpaid, though expenses will be covered. Ideally the candidate will be able to dedicate 2-3 days per week for a 3 month period.
The intern will be expected to support work in a number of areas:
1. Research
? Research on REDD activities in different countries
? Undertake thematic research and literature reviews on issues relevant to the current REDD debate (for example Definition of Forests, Participation in REDD Monitoring and Verification Systems, Financing of REDD etc)
2. Running of the REDD-network
? Assist with the organisation of the REDD-net ?e-library? by classifying relevant articles according to themes and/or geographical relevance
? Creating summary of articles to be uploaded on the REDD-net website
? Providing assistance to the Programme Coordinator with the running of the network
Desired skills and experience
? Master degree in relevant discipline
? Proven interest in climate change and in the implication of the mitigation debate for developing countries.
