Marine Biologists
Centre for Marine & Coastal Studies Ltd (CMACS) is a leading marine and coastal environmental consultancy company providing specialist environmental consultancy and contract applied research and survey services based on ecological investigation and interpretation.  We are looking for marine biologists to join our team based on the Wirral (NW England) to help resource a busy offshore survey programme and undertake associated project work.  The primary role will be to participate in offshore marine environmental survey work, including extended periods at sea on survey vessels.  The main activities will be benthic grab sampling for fauna and sediments, beam trawling for epifauna and fish and underwater camera work.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and growing company with a strong reputation, particularly in relation to offshore renewable energy developments.  The successful candidates will possess the following skills:

_Essential _
Vessel-based marine biological survey experience (e.g. trawling, grabbing, camera or other to show capability of working offshore).
Good report writing skills.
Full driving licence.

_Desirable_
Fisheries knowledge; marine mammal observer (MMO); intertidal surveys; GIS mapping; ornithological skills; intertidal invertebrate ID; coastal and/or offshore EIA; sediment analyses; PRIMER; project management.

A first degree in a marine biological discipline is essential.  A masters (or higher) degree is desirable; however, candidates with proven experience are likely to be at an advantage.

It will be necessary to undergo appropriate HSE training and pass a medical.  A willingness to work away from home for extended periods of time, including offshore, will be essential.  The posts are full time but will be subject to a performance review after an agreed period.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and ability.
